Description

Your Dell S3423DWC monitor has a built-in diagnostic tool. It helps to determine if the screen abnormality you are experiencing is a problem with the monitor or with the video card on your computer. According to Dell, the display covers 99% of the sRGB color space. As you can see above, it did even better in our tests, spanning 99.8% of the gamut. I also measured it as covering 88.3% of DCI-P3, a color space commonly used in digital video, and 87.8% of the Adobe RGB gamut frequently used by professional photographers preparing images for print. The Dell 34 Curved USB-C Monitor (S3423DWC) does a fine job as a combo productivity and gaming monitor, although as noted earlier, there are better choices if your focus is either task. The Dell S3423DWC is a great choice if you want a flexible ultrawide monitor for any type of use. Its 100Hz VA panel works great for games and entertainment and the extra space its screen gives you will come in handy for productivity. Its designed with sought-after modern features like USB-C so it will be a great buy for those who want a monitor for their remote setup or home office. It is also great that Dell included speakers with this model this time so you don’t have to buy their proprietary mini soundbars. Its other recent releases like the Dell U3223QE only have notches for the latter, so you have to pay more despite the already expensive price tags. Adjustability

When monitor is connect to the PC via HDMI, the video or graphics card (GPU) controls the YCbCr setting CompleteCover:CompleteCover service is available for personal computers, Axim PDAs, Dell branded projectors and LCD TV. CompleteCover excludes theft, loss, and damage due to fire, intentional damage, acts of God or natural disasters, animals, pets or pests. Customer may be required to return unit to Dell. As for connectivity, the Dell has one upstream USB-C port that supports DisplayPort over USB Alternate Mode as well as up to 65 watts of USB power delivery, meaning it can power or charge an attached laptop. You'll also find an upstream USB 3.2 Type-B port and two downstream USB 3.2 Type-A ports, one of which can supply up to 10 watts for charging a handheld device. A pair of HDMI ports plus the primary USB-C port let you connect the monitor to up to three input sources, switching among them using a single keyboard and mouse, a configuration that Dell calls a virtual KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) switch. Make sure that the video cable connecting the monitor to the computer is connected properly and is secure. Due to legacy platform cannot recognize or output 5120 x 1440, we suggest changing EDID to lower resolution to cover this compatibility problem.

Dell S3423DWC monitor uses a curved IPS panel, the corners of the screen may appear slight yellowish or pinkish, especially when viewing in dark room. This is normal IPS panel behavior and typically does not affect the overall viewing performance. Some USB devices like external portable HDD require higher electric current; connect the device directly to the computer.

A Hybrid Work-and-Play Ultrawide

I want to switch between my PC and also the 2021 Macbook Pro that I’ll be getting soon which has the 120hz Pro Motion that I want to use on the monitor. I was thinking the USB C port would be useful as I can then plug the DP into my desktop and the USB C to my macbook. I tested the Dell S3423DWC's luminance (brightness per unit area), contrast ratio, and color accuracy using our standard test gear: a Klein Instruments K-10A colorimeter, a Murideo SIX-G signal generator, and Portrait Displays' CalMAN 5 calibration software. Dell provides a rather thin one-year warranty for the S3423DWC. Most monitor manufacturers offer three years of coverage, as Dell does for many of its other displays. Philips goes a step further than most by adding a fourth year of support.

CompleteCover: Service is available for personal computers, Axim PDAs, Dell branded projectors and LCD TV. CompleteCover excludes theft, loss, and damage due to fire, intentional damage, acts of God or natural disasters, animals, pets or pests. Customer may be required to return unit to Dell. This service is only available in selected countries. Pixel response time is the biggest weakness of a VA monitor even if it has an extended refresh rate. The Dell S3423DWC isn’t exempted, so you have to use its overdrive accordingly to reduce persistence and smudges in fast-paced scenes. We recommend using the Fast setting since it offers the best balance between removing trails and adding overshoot. Intel SME Study Disclaimer: Based on a 2018 survey of small business owners in five countries. Details here intel.com.au/smestudy Change the color-setting mode in the Color Settings On-Screen Display Menu (OSD) to Graphics or Video, depending on the application. Use a USB-extender cable to position the wireless USB receiver as far away as possible from the USB 3.2 port.

Its build quality is great even if it uses plenty of plastics compared to other business ultrawides from the brand. There were no cosmetic defects when it was unboxed and it looks like every piece was molded precisely. The stand is stable and firm, but the screen can slightly wobble if you accidentally nudge it. The Dell S3423DWC covers 99% sRGB and 88% DCI-P3 for decent vibrancy for daily use and entertainment. It is not the brand’s most accurate ultrawide, but its deltaE average of 2.64 is already acceptable unless you are editing or creating content. We feel that most users will be happy with it after a few basic tweaks like adjusting the brightness. inch monitors aren’t small even by today’s standards, but Dell has reduced its overall dimensions to lessen its impact on the environment. It only needs 8.5 inches of depth since its base is now smaller and it uses a lightweight frame that only weighs 14.7 pounds. But you still must account for the extra width since it can cover large peripherals like desktop speakers if your table is narrow. Dell has been on something of a roll when it comes to launching new monitor models this year and its latest addition is an office focused curved 34-inch model with a 3440x1440 resolution. The S3423DWC as the model is called, sports a VA panel with a 300 cd/m² brightness, a 3000:1 contrast ratio and a colour gamut capable of 99 percent of the sRGB colour space. Although it's an office focused display, the good news here is that it has 100 Hz refresh rate and a 4 ms response time, which is quite unusual for its target market. AMD FreeSync is also supported, although there's no mention of the frequency range.
