Description

Supplied with 2x detachable MX 24V lithium-ion batteries and a fast charger. The batteries can be charged wherever is convenient with no need for an outdoor power source. Husqvarna is the parent company of Flymo and is known for its robust outdoor tools. As well as robot lawn mowers, they make tractors, mowers, chainsaws and much more. Grabbing it by the handle, I plonked it on my lawn, pressed two buttons, and the mower was off and mowing. These robotic mowers are powered by rechargeable batteries but what’s great about them is that you don’t even need to worry about remembering to put them on charge. They’re smart machines that will automatically return to their charging station when they need a power boost. Once you’ve set them up, it really is a case of just letting them get on with it. Insert the safety key and long press the START/ON button for 3 seconds. Wait for the green lights to stop flashing and the mower to beep.

If you’ve brought a robot lawn mower, the chances are that you want something that’s going to take care of your garden chores for you. But if you’re left with long edges around the lawn, you’re going to have to get the trimmer out. Some robotic mowers with offset blades do a much better job of cutting to the edge and are ideal for people who want minimal hassle. Questions I am Commonly Asked About Robotic Mowers Are Robot Mowers Difficult To Set Up? READ NEXT: Our guide to the best robot lawnmowers to buy LawnMaster L10 review: What do you get for the money? The robot mower will cut in a random pattern for up to 4 hours* which covers lawns up to 100m2. The VBRM16 OcuMow™ is designed to mow once or twice a week during daylight hours in dry weather, cutting and dropping the grass clippings on the lawn as a natural fertiliser. While the LawnMaster VBRM16 is a simple robot mower, it does come with a couple of essential safety features that make it a great tool for all homes, even those with children. Lift and Tilt SensorsOne of the things I noticed when I was setting the LawnMaster VBRM16 up was that it comes with a safety key. This is something you normally see with cordless lawn mowers so I felt it was a nice touch. The benefit of this is that you don’t need to worry about any accidental start ups if you have kids. Just take the key out and there’s no way for the mower to be started even if the battery is fitted. What’s Included In The Box? And because the charging station sits perpendicular to the wire, there’s always going to be an area behind it that won’t get mowed and is going to need trimming, either by hand or with a strimmer (though you will need to watch those permiter wires). Finally, depending on your model you may need to set up your mowing schedule, which can be done with either a keypad on the machine or through a mobile app. How Much Do I Need To Spend On A Robotic Mower?

The downside of the LawnMaster VBRM16’s unwillingness to traverse anything that isn’t grass is that it wasn’t brilliant around bare patches. I have a fairy ring in my grass that fared particularly badly over the hot summer of 2022 and hasn’t managed to recover, leaving bare patches in the lawn. When the mower approached these, it stopped and avoided them. If it was a flower bed I’d be thankful for it but it’s worth noting that the patchier your lawn, the harder it will be for the Lawnmaster VBRM16 to navigate it successfully. One of the things that a lot of people ask me about robotic lawn mowers is whether they have enough power to complete the entire lawn in one go. Buy with the confidence of knowing that your new tools and the batteries come with a two-year guarantee. Model number VBRM16-COMBO Supplied with a detachable 4.0Ah MX 24V lithium-ion battery and fast one hour charger, the battery can be charged wherever is convenient with no need for an outdoor power source. The LawnMaster VBRM16 is certainly not the most advanced robot lawnmower you’ll come across. However, if you’re looking for a model that can start cutting your lawn on the day you get it, with no requirement to install wires or connect a base station, it’s a simple and effective machine. That said, here are some of the most important features you should look for when choosing a robotic lawn mower. Battery

As I discussed earlier, some of the more expensive robotic lawn mowers use GPS and RTK to navigate. However, the LawnMaster VBRM16 benefits from a camera and two sensors located at the front of the machine which enables it to ‘see’ the lawn and move around objects or stop at the edge. I allowed the lawn in my front garden to grow to around 60mm, despite having given it the first cut of the season the week before testing the LawnMaster VBRM16. For this, I used the 40mm cutting height but there are five options to choose from between 20mm and 60mm which I thought was more than adequate. The LawnMaster VBRM16 is a robot mower that is simple in its design and operation but doesn’t scrimp on performance. If you’re looking for something that won’t break the bank and will be a cinch to setup and use, then this is a mower I would highly recommend. Main Features In the event that the LawnMaster VBRM16 completes the mow but has missed any spots, you can use the spot cut mode to tidy these up. Before you get started, you will also need to set up your boundary wires. Pretty much all robot lawn mowers are supplied with these wires and pegs to secure them. You’ll lay the boundary wire around the area that you want the mower to work in, which is pretty simple. Don’t be worried about the wires creating a trip hazard as it is possible to bury them should you need.

How To Guides

I tested the LawnMaster VBRM16 on my front lawn and was really pleased with the results and how well this machine worked. It was simple and easy to use, has a great run time and is overall a well made and impressive piece of garden equipment. Anyone who doesn’t fancy the requirement to lay wire or doesn’t have a straightforward place to plug in a charging station should look to the LawnMaster VBRM16. This robot mower scans the grass ahead of itself to avoid driving off your lawn. The downside is that, without a charging station the LawnMaster VBRM16 can’t find its way home. It’s also priced at the affordable end of the scale, but can only mow lawns up to 100m² in size. SPOT CUT FUNCTION: for a neat finish, use the additional spiral spot cut function on any uncut grass. But that’s where a robot lawn mower really comes in handy. These modern machines provide you with a way to stay on top of lawn maintenance without actually having to lift a finger; aside from the set up, that is. Additional batteries can extend running time (sold separately). Battery duration depends on lawn conditions.

For more information on adapting your lawn to get the best performance from the VBRM16 OcuMow™, see our video guide and FAQ. There are loads of things to consider so the whole process might feel a little overwhelming. That’s why I thought it would be good to give you some help. It’s also a good idea to look for a robot mower whose battery can be replaced. This allows you to swap batteries as their performance drops over the years, which is inevitable. Generally speaking, a lithium-ion battery will last less time than the mower itself so having the option to put a new battery in means you’ll get the most out of your machine. What’s more, it comes with a carry handle so moving it around is even easier.
