Description

Most domestic bathroom extractors attach to a 100mm hole in the outside wall. If you’re replacing a standard-sized extractor fan, this hole will already be present and you should be able to install the new one yourself. Before you remove the old fan, it’s a good idea to take a photo of its wiring for later reference – and make absolutely sure you shut off the mains power before you take the old one’s front housing off. The Airlfow Icon 30 fan is very powerful. With an extract rate of 32 litres a second, it meets the building regulations for bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms. The ICON30 comes complete with cantilever fixing lugs enabling a recessed installation on uneven surfaces. The PureAir Sense comes with two spigots (or sleeves): one for standard 100mm installation and another for larger 125mm portals. The larger spigot is the one to fit if you want to benefit from its excellent 39l per second flow rate. That said, its standard 32l per second flow rate is still better than most and easily good enough for the majority of bathroom installations.

Easy to install due to the core drilled hole and its twist on/off cover enabling it to be fitted and fixed easily with its single side entry fixing screw. This really is an excellent extractor that uses just 2W of electricity when running continuously and no more than 5W at full pelt. It’s also one of the most attractive models around – the fascia can be used bare or with the included white magnetic cover – and one of the very quietest. Each fan in the range has a slot to insert a control module of your choosing, including options for pull cord, over-run timer, Humidistat and Passive Infra-red PIR sensor.

Tiling is a breeze with the circular cover flange, reducing the need to 'make good' and one wipe and the cover is clean. If you don’t already have a fan, you’ll need to get in a qualified builder to make the hole and install the wiring. Be aware that there are regulations governing where your fan can be located: if you want to put a fan in Zone 1 (the area within a shower or 2.25m above a bath) or Zone 2 (60cm from Zone 1), it must be a low-voltage SELV fan with a transformer, or an AC-powered model that’s IPX5-certified. Most of our recommendations below are intended for use outside of Zone 2, but the layout of your bathroom may dictate your options. Please note: While the Icon 30 uses 4" inch ducting it does require a 6" hole in the wall or ceiling for flush fitting.

With an air extraction rate of 118m3/h, the Icon 30 is perfect for installing in a high use bathroom and meets building regs for utility room installations. PRHTM - Infrared - Passive infrared activation with adjustable humidity setting and adjustable timer overrun

Specification

The 100 mm/4” Icon 15 Bathroom unit can be flush mounted in either the wall or ceiling and with a low-profile fascia, sits unobtrusively in any room. This ensures that all damp and condensation are completely removed without the need for a large, noisy and power-hungry unit. The more powerful and slightly larger Icon 30 Bathroom & Utility room unit can be installed similarly to the Icon 15 either as a surface mounted 100mm/4” fan or flush mounted as a 150mm/6” install by removing the rear cowl.
