In terms of storage, the 64GB offering was more than enough for my needs, with plenty of space remaining even after downloading the 1,369-page behemoth that is Stephen King’s IT. It may use the same E Ink technology made famous on the Kindle, but the Note Air 2 is all about productivity. Onyx also gives you plenty of screen refresh modes to choose from, so you can customise each app to display just the way you want it to. Equipped with an OTG expansion device, the maximum support is 512GB, and it is more convenient to transfer files and exchange data. I did download YouTube, although the Note Air 2 Plus’s refresh rate wasn’t good enough to run fast-paced video content, which made me question why it was supported at all.

And while you can download audiobooks and podcasts to the Note Air 2 Plus, it makes little sense to use it for audio files instead of your phone. If you want a reading tool, though, and aren't a fan of your Kindle's small screen and its limited app support, this is a perfect step up for anyone who can justify the cost.Don’t be afraid to not have perfect answers we want to flag what positive work is being done and will always factor in forward-looking statements where possible. The low latency ensured that the Note Air 2 Plus was able to track all my hand movements accurately no matter how scruffy my handwriting was. Thankfully, for its second-generation Note Air tablet, Onyx has improved both the pen magnet and case adhesion by adding magnets to the back – a huge improvement on both counts. Ebook readers have become hot property, with more and more bibliophiles swapping their books for the devices. It has a satisfying scratchy feel, akin to a pencil on grainy paper that has been lost in favour of a smoother and ‘slippier’ (for want of a better word) screen used by the more recent Tab range.

If you do not pursue the best refresh performance and large capacity, Note Air2 Plus can be said to be the most cost-effective choice among the current 10. Overall, the Onyx Boox Note Air 2 Plus is an attractive and sleek e-reader, more so than my own blue Kindle Paperwhite. Basil has been writing about tech for over 12 years, with bylines in TechRadar, Metro, Wired, and Digital Camera World – to name but a few titles. He expertly covers everything from mobile phones to smart devices, cameras, audio-visual hardware, and kitchen tech. Unleash Creativity In Your Way Various digital tools allow you to take notes and sketch in a variety of ways. While this e-reader doesn’t include all the features you’d expect of a tablet, it’s does the job for browsing the web and using day-to-day apps – although those looking for a device on which to predominantly watch video content should look elsewhere. It’ll run the Kindle app and display your eBooks and PDF files, as well as work as a great digital notepad – no problem.
